Ingredients
- 1 x 300g Steak (Ribeye, sirloin...)
- 1 x French Loaf
- 200g Mozzarella & Mature Cheddar
- 4 x Onions
Instructions
- Lightly freeze the steak and slice it ultra-fine ahead of time. Make sure you chop it both vertically and horizontally.
- Roughly chop onions and fry them on a medium stove until they have lightly caramelized; keep them simmering on the stove while you prepare everything else. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Make a béchamel sauce and put in mozzarella & cheddar. It needs to be quite thick.
- Toast loaf and set aside.
- Heat up your cast iron until it is ripping hot. Place the steak in the pan and season generously with salt & pepper. Press down hard on the steak with a spatula until there is some colour, then flip and add the onions to the steak.
- Pickup the steak & onions with a spatula and place it on the loaf. Generously apply the cheese sauce on top.
Notes
Ensure that the steak is sliced as thinly as possible for the best texture. Adjust the cheese sauce thickness according to your preference.
